non-NAPARC Affiliation

On a personal level, RED supports non-NAPARC churches in their desire to fulfill the Great Commission. We love LBC 1689 Baptists and their confessional drive. We hope and pray that they can have greater influence in the SBC and, of course, in ARBCA. We also appreciate Acts 29 with their attention to doctrine and a more serious Christianity. We are encouraged by their interest in historical theology and the Reformed tradition and would love to work with those individuals and others who are like-minded in various capacities on a personal level.

On an institutional level, however, RED is limited to NAPARC churches. It is not that we do not approve of non-NAPARC churches or that we do not recognize them. It is just that NAPARC has already built a foundation of formal ecclesiastical union. We can cooperate with non-NAPARC church-members on a personal level but we cannot have formal ecclesiastical fellowship on an institutional level because we do not have ecclesiastical relations.

RED exists for NAPARC churches to dialogue toward greater ecclesiastical fellowship. These types of dialogues exist already in Acts 29, the Gospel Coalition, etc.  Unlike Acts 29, TGC, and others, RED is intrachurch – we work within the bounds of the institutional church to promote ecclesiastical business.

We desire to see personal relationships help to bridge the gap between NAPARC churches and for more pastors to swap pulpits, hold joint services and conferences, and interact at the presbytery/classis level.  These activities are already taking place across North America.

In sum, RED promotes activities of NAPARC churches that bring about ecclesiastical fellowship at an institutional level.  On a personal level, we support non-NAPARC churches in their work to fulfill the Great Commission.
